1986 - 1993 : Ph D Program at University Malaya - Developing knowledge base System for Machine Tools Utilization and Replacement.

The research covered utilization, capability study, repair, maintenance and refurbishment of machine tools at the workshops of Malaysia industrial sectors. A comprehensive study on machine shops in West Malaysia was done covering approximately 150 machine shops of various sizes and level of capability. Detail availability and capability analysis were also undertaken for the machine tools at JKR Workshop in Cheras, Main Railway Workshop in Sentul, Syarikat Malaysia Explosive at Batu Arang and several mould and die machine shops in Petaling Jaya. The data from the above study were used to develop A Knowledgebase System For Machine Tool Replacement.

1981 -1984: Senior Research Officer · Undertook the following design and development works : - Designed and developed testing equipment, which includes equipment for plug tester and LPG conversion, kits. - Designed and developed equipment for small-scale industries. Among them were the frying equipment, moulds for brassware, oven for drying of food products, plastic glove making equipment, Project Development & Management Experience

1992 - 1993 : Development of Inclivator Project at SIRIM · This is a form of outdoor escalator for moving people up and down higher ground. It is normally installed at resort. One unit had been installed at Berjaya Resort Langkawi.

1995 - Jan 1998 : Project Director, Manager and Consultant for the Main Contractor for the Passenger Boarding Bridge and Apron Services package at Satellite Building for Sepang Airport :The project was awarded to Projass Bukaka Joint Venture with the project cost of about RM 117 million. Bukaka Teknik is an Indonesian company specializing in passenger boarding bridges manufacturing. The project involved design, fabricate, supply, test, commission, operation and maintenance of 45 Passenger Loading Bridges and Apron services equipment. The Apron services equipment made up of 400 Hz system, Precondition Air System and Visual Docking System. Also the Project Director and the Project Consultant for the passenger boarding bridges.

1995 -Jan 1998 : Project Coordinator (as Alternate Director of Kuntum Tenteram Sdn. Bhd) for the following projects : Special Tent (costing RM1 million) for Jabatan Perdana Menteri. The tent is currently installed at SIRIM complex Shah Alam. The project was undertaken in collaboration with a German firm, SL Sonderkonstruktionen Und Leichbau GMBH. § Domes and Special Lighting for Wilayah Mosque for Jabatan Agama Islam Wilayah Persekutuan (total project cost RM35 million). Only involved during price negotiation and early stage of project. The project was undertaken with SL Sonderkonstruktionen.

June '93 - Jan '98 : Senior General Manager/General Manager and Director of Musteq Industries Sdn Bhd. Responsible for financial and operational performance of Musteq Industries Sdn. Bhd · Established a fabrication workshop with a total built up space of about 30,000 sq. ft. The total cost of the fabrication shop including the facilities and equipment was about RM 10 million. Among the parts fabrication and machining undertaken were : ¨ Small turbine parts and low pressure pipe parts ¨ Tanks for demineralization plant ¨ Solar array modules for BP Solar panels ¨ Stairs, rotunda and wheel bogie parts for KLIA Sepang passenger boarding bridges. The parts were manufactured in collaboration with an Indonesian manufacturer Bukaka Teknik Utama ¨ Connectors and platforms for Special Tent produced in collaboration with an architectural firm from Germany, SL Sonderkostrucktionen GMBH. ¨ Valves refurbishment working in collaboration with a UK valves manufacturer, Hopkinsons Ltd, ¨ After sales services for Liebherr cranes in collaboration with Liebherr from Germany/Austria ¨ Inclivator parts for SIRIM Projass Eng Sdn. Bhd

1995 - 1997 : Project Coordinator for Subcontract works for ABB Power Generation for the Boiler Erection works and Turbine Erection works (a joint project with MRCB Eng. SB). Project cost about RM20 million.

1994 - 1996 : Project Coordinator for Sub contract works approximately RM 30 million for Mitsubishi Heavy Industry (MHI) for TNB Pasir Gudang Power Plant ( a joint project with Tenaga Nasional Engineering and Consultancy - TNEC) for the packages : Mechanical and Electrical Works :Low Pressure Pipe and Condensor Fabrication : DC system & UPS :LV transformers § Demineralisation and Electrochlorination Plant

1993 - 1994 : Project Coordinator for Stack fabrication and erection works and manpower supply for John Brown package for Serdang Power Plant . The package cost about RM 3 million and was awarded under Projass Clough Joint Venture. Project Manager for Compressor supply package for Serdang Power Plant under John Brown Package. Project cost RM150,000.00.

1989 - June 1993 : Deputy Director of Engineering Services SIRIM · Responsible for development and implementation of infrastructure, office buildings, laboratories and workshops of SIRIM. Also coordination of the development budget for the procurement of laboratories and workshop equipment. Total development involved in four years was about RM 50 to RM60 million. · Responsible for maintenance of infrastructure, offices, laboratories and workshops of SIRIM including machines and equipment. · Coordinator for the prototype fabrications and general fabrication works of SIRIM · Project coordinator for establishment of CAD/CAM Unit of SIRIM. · Head of Quality Audit Team of SIRIM Quality Management. · Main project engineer for design and development of inclivator project of SIRIM

1984 - 1985 : Project Coordinator for Metal Industry Development Center (MIDEC) of SIRIM. § Responsible for overall management and daily running of the Center. The Center undertook design, development and research work in the areas of machining, die and mould making, die casting, welding, presswork, electroplating, plastic injection, testing and checking. 1981 : Project Coordinator for the study on the setting up of Foundry Center of SIRIM : Worked with JICA experts in the preparation of Proposal of setting up of selected workshops, mould & pattern makers, foundries and sand processing plants in Malaysia to assess the quality of the cast products produced by the local foundries. Also assessed the level of technology of the local foundries. The data were used to establish the facilities, training and development program required to be set up at the Center.

1977 - 1980 : Collaborate with Japanese Experts (JICA experts) on detail survey on the local metal working industries covering foundries, machining, presswork, plastic injection and metal assembling firms -

1977 - 1980 : The study covered the processes, equipment, materials, products, quality and skilled workers. This is in line with the objectives of setting up metal technology centers in SIRIM. The technology centers were to undertook consultancy, training and technology development in the areas of machining, die and mould and test and checking.

Feb '98 - June '98 : Technical Consultant to (Perusahaan Otomobil Elektrik Malaysia) POEM .Study, develop, improve and provide necessary recommendations with respect to the production activities, production procedures, data and record keeping and plant layout. Laise with Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan for approvals of the electric vehicles to be used on the roads.

The workshop undertook machining and welding and general fabrication and machining requirements of SIRIM.

1984 - 1995 Head of Metal Industry Development Center of SIRIM (MIDEC). Responsible for the administration and operation of MIDEC. This involved the planning, development and daily operations of MIDEC which undertook development, training, consultancy, design and making of dies, moulds, precision machining, electroplating treatment and NDT.

1981- 1984 : Head of the development and daily operation of the workshop. The workshop undertook machining and welding of testing specimens, fabrication of the testing and research equipment and general fabrication and machining requirements of SIRIM. In 1984, was assigned as Head of Maintenance Unit of SIRIM. Responsible for the management of overall infrastructure, utilities, offices and laboratories and workshops of SIRIM.

1977 - 1979 : Research Officer/ Machine Shop Manager at Design & Fabrication Unit SIRIM. Research of tool and die industry. Development of machines and equipment for small-scale industry. Responsible for management of the workshop. Industrial visits to Indian tool, die, mould and machine tools factories. Sep'79 - April'81 : Attended Master Degree Program at Asian Institute of Technology Bangkok. A 20 month program on Industrial Engineering and Management. The subjects covered were Production Planning and Personnel Management, Production System, Management Information System, operation Research, Macro Economics, Inventory Control and Transfer Technology. Special project on scheduling on Low Cost Housing Project in Bangkok.
